Harness Analyst – Northfield Park 30th May

We have a great harness racing wagering opportunity with a double carryover in tonight’s Pick 5 that starts in Race 6 with $20,368 in the pool to start at the “Home of the Flying Turns”, Northfield Park, tonight (May 30). Here are my selections for the entire card and multi-race tickets.

BEST BET: DRAGON CITY – Race 8

SPOT PLAY: TIDE HAS TURNED – Race 9

$1 Pick 4 – Race 2 – 5/1,3,5,6/5,6/4,8 = $16

$1 Pick 5 – Race 6 – 3/1,2,3,4,9/4/1,2,8,9/1,3,5 = $60

$1 Pick 4 – Race 11 – 2,5,7/2/1,3,4,5,9/2 = $15

Race 1 – 5-7-3-9

Veteran (5) P L JERICHO was bought for Jason McGinnis prior to this start and based on his qualifier he looks ready to go right down the road in this first start for new connections.

Race 2 – 5-2-4-3

(6) WORLD OF GAMING is in even easier here than he was last week when he dropped to this level, and he is hard to go against at a tiny price.

Race 3 – 5-1-3-6

I’ll take a price stab here with (5) YOU GOT IT MAX, who paced a sub-57 back 1/2 last time after getting out of touch with the field. Post position improvement gives him chance tonight.

Race 4 – 6-5-3-9

(6) WORD OUT is the only horse in here that has recorded two wins in 2023 and he looks like a solid speed threat in this spot.

Race 5 – 8-4-3-1

(8) BIG BAD CAVIAR drops to a good spot here and him drawing widest will help keep his price viable.

Race 6 – 3-5-7-2

(3) YANKEE SPARKLE raced his eyeballs out to prevail in a dead-heat in his first start off the Rhoades claim. He gets the call to repeat to kick off the Pick 5 that features a two-day carryover of $20.368.

Race 7 – 9-1-2-4

This is a very tough leg of the Pick 5 that demands deep coverage. I’ll take a shot with bomb (9) SLATED TO WIN who gets Billy Davis Jr. for a second drive here and could trip out following the #1 horse.

Race 8 – 4-3-6-2

(4) DRAGON CITY faces much easier here and this is a field he should handle with little trouble. He will be a Pick 5 single for me.

Race 9 – 8-9-1-2

(8) TIDE HAS TURNED raced tough last time, trying to grind his way into a 55 1/5 back 1/2 at Scioto. Post 8 boosts his price, and he could add some value to the Pick 5

Race 10 – 1-4-5-8

(1) DRAGON CANDY returns to a 7-day cycle here and draws best. He should have a big shot starting from the rail.

Race 11- 5-2-7-1

(5) THORNBUSH HANOVER drops, and he should be sent on a speed mission from the start by Merriman; top call.

Race 12 – 2-1-9-3

(2) ELVER HANOVER, winless this year, won’t find an easier spot than this. He should dominate this field.

Race 13 – 1-5-3-9

Tough race here. I’ll try (1) SEASIDE MEDITATION, who gets needed post relief and could trip out at a price.

Race 14 – 2-3-5-6

(2) CLUB SCENE dominated first up last week, and he will be very hard to beat here at a short price as he seeks the repeat.

Race 15 – 2-4-9-1

(2) FG’S MONDU PACKRAT draws inside his main rival, and he should be tough to overhaul in this spot.
