In an interview with French trotting magazine Paris-Turf, harness racing trainer Richard Westerink reveals the future plan for Etonnant (Timoko – Migraine – Alligator). It includes a trip to the USA – but not for the $1 million International Trot at Yonkers Raceway.
“I have entered Etonnant in the John Cashman Jr Memorial on Saturday Aug 5th at the Meadowlands. If he starts there, we won’t compete in the International Trot in September at Yonkers,” Westerink said to Paris-Turf
Prior to last year’s International Trot many pointed out that the very solidly built and big Frenchman trotter was not suited to a half-mile track like Yonkers. There’s no question, however, that Etonnant will be right at home at a large track like the Meadowlands.
Prior to coming to the US, Etonnant will make one start in June. According to Westerink this will either be in the Kymi Grand Prix in Finland on June 17 or Prix Rene Balliere at Vincennes on June 25.
