Eyes Don’t Lie (Roll With Joe– Michelle’s Ideal) came up with a big effort at odds of 18-1 to win the Friday (June 2) night $10,800 harness racing featured Mares Open Handicap Pace at Northville Downs.
The six-year-old, being driven by Winter Asher-Stalbaum, who also owns and trains the mare, scored in off-the-pace fashion and drew off to win by one length after Princess Rougarou and driver Jason Merriman set the early fractions of 27.2, 56, and 1:25.0 to three-quarters.
Eyes Don’t Lie stormed by in the lane to stop the timer in 1:55.4. Last week’s Open winner, Coqui Coqui (Justin Irvine) got up for second and Princess Rougarou settled for third.
The victory was the 17th of Eyes Don’t Lie’s career and her lifetime earnings now stand at $118,867. She paid $39.00 to win.
