CHESTER PA – The Muscle Hill sophomore filly Maiden Voyage is now two-for-three in 2023 after she won the $12,600 featured harness racing trot at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon (Jun. 7).
Trotting her own last quarter in :28 while rallying from third, Maiden Voyage lowered her mark to 1:55 under the guidance of the meet’s top driver, Tim Tetrick, for trainer Anette Lorentzon, whose barn has done very well since coming over from Oak Grove, and S R F Stable.
MAIDEN VOYAGE REPLAY
A sprint pace and a marathon trot were also carded. Hes Rockin Ralphie (Rockin Image) carved out a wicked pace when Dirt On My Boots set the world record of 1:06.2 for this pacing distance on May 21, but today Simon Allard was able to get “more moderate” fractions — :26.1 and :53.1 – as the gelding crossed the line first in 1:07 for the five furlongs, winning for trainer Anthony DeFrancesco IV and owners Louis A. and Louis M. Di Tullio.
HES ROCKIN RALPHIE REPLAY
The trotters went in a 1¼ mile race, bet on the board as a closely-matched group and producing a finish matching those expectations, with the Yankee Glide mare Landia gaining in the stretch to be successful in 2:29.3 for trainer/owner Donald Maiorano. For driver David Miller, it was one of seven winners on the day, half the card; his fellow Hall Of Famer Tim Tetrick had four.
