Lit De Rose (Leader Bayama) and harness racing trainer-driver Pat Lachance closed with a burst of speed in the stretch to capture the $36,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace Friday (June 9) at Yonkers Raceway.
The 8th race feature got underway with Drama Act (Daniel Dube) scooting to the early lead by the opening quarter in :27 with Man Dontforget Me (Austin Siegelman) sitting the pocket trip and race favorite Racine Bell (Jason Bartlett) hung out to dry first-over.
Unable to get to the front nor back off for a spot along the pylons, Racine Bell was third on the outside as Drama Act led the field past the half mile in :55.4.
No one was willing to follow Racine Bell second-over who faded to fourth place on the outside as they passed the three-quarters in 1:23.4. Meanwhile, at the three-quarters, 6-1 Lit De Rose and Lachance were in fifth place and just starting to get into the race.
By the top of the stretch, Lachance had Lit De Rose on the move to the outside and was in fourth place and then down the stretch she came, pacing a last quarter mile in :27.4 and with a burst of speed coming to the wire, Lit De Rose beat Man Dontforget Me by a neck in 1:52.4. Drama Act held for third place.
