Metaki (Vertical Horizon) moved three-wide and found an extra surge late to take the featured harness racing pace at Century Downs on Friday (Jun. 9).
Leading driver Brandon Campbell pulled the mare around the first-up Stash The Cookies (Logan Gillis) to attack leader Blue Star Mystic (Dave Kelly). Blue Star Mystic defended well until the closing stages, when Metaki charged to get up by three-quarters-of-a-length in 1:54.1. The former finished third after Century Mach (Phil Giesbrecht) edged him out for second.
METAKI REPLAY
Metaki is now 15-for-44 lifetime with $107,373 in earnings. The victory was her eighth this year for Campbell, who trains the four-year-old for Jodi Loftus.
Campbell had three other winners on the day and completed a grand slam with Metaki.
Century Downs races again on Saturday, Jun. 10, beginning at 1:15 p.m. MDT.
