OKEMOS, Mich. – The Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association (MHHA) has announced four harness racing scholarship recipients: Brylee Boyd, Samuel Sarro, Brett Sugg, and Drew Thacker. Scholarship amounts range from $5,000 to $1,000 and are to be used for post-secondary education.
“We are excited to support these students in their goals to complete secondary education endeavors,” said Tom Barrett, MHHA President. “As part of the scholarship application process, each recipient shared their connection to racing and how the racing industry has impacted their life. It was truly impressive to read about their experiences with harness horseracing. We congratulate all the scholarship recipients!”
Criteria for the scholarships also included academic performance, financial need, leadership skills, community service, and knowledge of the harness racing industry.
Scholarships are available to MHHA members, dependents, or immediate family members. Applicants are eligible for scholarship awards for four years.
