The second preliminary round of the Quebec-Bred Series for four-year-old and older pacing mares and horses takes place at the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday (June 18).
Post time is 12:00 for the ten-race program that features the two $6,500 divisions of the series. There are three preliminary rounds followed by $30,000 finals in each division.
The 3rdĀ race is the first division for the pacing mares and featured will be two return winners in the bulky 10-horse field.
Lili GL (Up The Credit) is the morning line favorite after winning her division last week in an impressive 1:55.3 lifetime mark. With Pascal Berube in the sulky, Lili GL went wire-to-wire and held off a persistent Platine Alpha to win by a head. She drew post one in the first division for trainer Marc-Andre Simoneau.
Platine Alpha drew post three in this weekās race for driver Jimmy Gagnon.
The second return winner in the series is Kiss Me Bad (Badlands Hanover) from post two for driver Steven Gagnon. Last week Kiss Me Bad was able to grind it out first-over and come on in the stretch and hold off race favorite Celia Bayama to win by a half a length in 1:56.4. She is trained and owned by Gagnon.
Celia Bayama is also in the race, drawing the outside post eight for driver Stephane Brosseau.
The second division is the 9thĀ race for the older horses and this will again be another slugfest as return winner Aladdin (Shadow Play) drew post five against The Light Speed (Moon Beam), who drew post one.
Last week Aladdin and driver Stephane Brosseau were able to sweep three-wide, along with The Light Speed, to take command of the race and win by a neck over The Light Speed in 1:54.2. That was the fastest mile of the season at H3R.
The Light Speed will be driven by Jimmy Gagnon.
Other contenders in the race include Mickeymaksomespeed (post 2), D Gs De Vito (post 8) and newcomer Cyclone Joe (post 6).
