CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With a mad dash to the harness racing finish wire, Moonwriter (Sportswriter) landed on top in the Saturday evening featured pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Marc Campbell bagged four wins on the evening including the $3,500 race 11 finale with a hard closing Moonwriter in a nose decision at 10-1 odds in 1:55.3 over Mr Rielly (Driven by Corey MacPherson) and Navalny (Adam Merner). Colin Johnson trains the veteran pacer for owner Debbie Element of Village Green. The victory pushes the 11-year-old to over $436,000 in career earnings.
Campbell was hot on the evening as he continues his Red Shores Charlottetown dominance for a 14th straight season on top of the driving colony. Campbell won with St Charlesfireball (1:55.3) from his own barn, the race 10 Kenmac Energy pace with Acrobat Hanover (1:54.4) for trainer Lenny Myers and the race 1 opener with Rockin Novel (1:55.4) for trainer Roy Reynolds.
The Melissa Rennie barned continued to click on the evening as Merner steered Impeccable Shadow to a 1:54.4 win and Rose Run Quest hit the winner’s circle after a 1:53.4 victory.
Corey MacPherson also scored a driving triple winning the David Rose Memorial pace with Saulsbrook Ian (1:54) from the Jamie Smith stable as well as wins with his own Melanies Magic (1:56.4) and Woodmere Arturo (1:59.2) for trainer Ron Matheson.
Live racing now shifts to Red Shores Summerside for Governor’s Plate Week starting Sunday afternoon at 1 P.M. featuring a pair of $7,500 Governor’s Plate eliminations, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge.
