Billy Dobson scores 5,000th career win

Harness racing driver Billy Dobson went into the Saturday (July 8) evening card at Saratoga Casino Hotel just three wins shy of a 5,000-win milestone and after wins with Gary Levine trainees Mister Godro and Hestherightstuff, he was on par for the achievement in the tenth race with Black Edition N (Bettors Delight).

Trained by Rob Harmon, Black Edition N and Dobson left from the rail and secured the lead. The pair held nothing back as they maintained at least a one length lead over the rest of the field, setting the tempo through panels in :27, :56.3, and 1:25.1. Black Edition N crossed the wire in 1:54 with a comfortable 1-3/4 length cushion, giving Billy Dobson career driving win 5,000. Century Endeavor (Wally Hennessey) finished second and Chip Walther (Jim Devaux) rounded out the top three.

Harmon Racing Stable LLC and Cass Gallagher co-own the six-year-old son as he moved his career record to 14-13-6 in 50 starts with $93,006 earned.
