EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – This Saturday, July 15th the annual Burger Battle returns to the Meadowlands Racetrack. $3,500 is up for grabs in the harness racing Battle with a $1,500 grand prize, $1,000 second place prize and $500 third place prize plus the $500 prize for the best tasting burger patty.
From 5:00 p.m.-11 p.m. in the Backyard, fans can grab some delicious burgers and food truck eats from some of the best local food trucks and restaurants in the area.
Thirteen contestants have signed up to compete in this year’s Burger Battle including: Magic Mike’s Smoked Meats, The Mozzarella God, 2022 winner Spanky’s Gourmet Grub, Holy Grail Burgers, Carnival Concessions, Young’s Kitchen, TaxiCab Burger, Rods Fish N Chips, Big John’s Gourmet Burgers, Antojitos de mi Teirra, Latin Bites, Why Not Burgerz and Douglas Blankrot. All will be serving up their original burger creations in hopes of winning the $1,500 top prize.
Additional food and dessert options ranging from bbq to kettle corn will be provided by Cat Like Reflexes, Uncle Bob’s Kettle Corn, The Original Delicious Lola Josefa’s, Jo Jos Cookies, DAW Concessions, Michael’s Backyard BBQ and Clyde’s Homemade Italian Ice and Ice Cream.
In addition to the great burgers and snacks, fans will be treated to exciting horse racing on the track with post time at 6:20pm featuring $2.5 million in stakes races. The Meadowlands Pace itself is a very competitive field of ten talented sophomores, filled with intrigue. The supporting card has filled up nicely:
- 2 divisions of the Stanley Dancer 3-year-old colt trot
- 2 divisions of the Del Miller 3-year-old filly trot
- The Mistletoe Shalee
- The WR Haughton FFA Pace
- The Dorothy Haughton FFA Mare Pace
- The E.T. Gerry Jr. Hambletonian Maturity
