SUMMERSIDE, PE – Newly minted track record holder Roll Em will have some work to do in the 55th edition of the Governor’s Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge, after drawing post 7 during the official post position harness racing draw on Tuesday (July 11) evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Trained and driven by Marc Campbell for owners Brent Campbell, Ryan MacLeod, Brady Doyle and the Savage Stable, Roll Em toured Red Shores Summerside in 1:51.1, shaving three-fifths of a seconds off the overall track record while winning his elimination. The official post position draw was held during the Tuesday evening race card at Red Shores Summerside for the 55thĀ edition of the $35,000 Governor’s Plate final set for Saturday evening (July 15) at the Prince County track.
Other elimination winner Matticulous GB will leave from post 4 for the duo of driver Ken Murphy and trainer Colin Johnson. Rail control for the Invitational event goes to the George Rennison trained American Risk.

12 Straight wins for Irish Ray
Irish Ray has extended his win streak to 12 straight after his three-year-old debut in Atlantic Sires Stakes action Tuesday evening during Governorās Plate Week racing at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Marc Campbell steered his trainee to a front-stepping 2:02.3 victory over a muddy track in the lone $17,920 Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old trot division for owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. Windemeregotmuscle (Driven by Jason Hughes) was second ahead of Gettin Salty (Adam Merner).
The program also featured a pair of $9,860 Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old trot divisions. Rocket Blast kicked off his career with a nose decision in 2:06.2 in line to Corey MacPherson for owner-trainer Carl Bagnall of Stratford. Countyline Babe (Myles Heffernan Sr.) cut out all the fractions and had to settle for second ahead of Camco Laraido (Ken Murphy).
Murphy was at the lines of Oceanview Daisy as she swamped her competition in the other two-year-old trot division with a 26-length victory in 2:06.1 for trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Hardcore Racing of Belfast. The EL Rocket filly was on top of a triactor ticket that included Gettin Lit (Mike McGuigan) and WL Roseys Rocket (Paul Lanigan).
MacPherson scored a driving triple on the evening to extend his lead in the driverās standings at Red Shores Summerside. Besides his two-year-old trot victory, the Cornwall reinsman won with JJ Patrick (1:57) for trainer Ricky Armstrong and Soccer Hanover (1:58) in the $3,200 featured pace for trainer Leith Waite.
Live racing continues Wednesday evening at 6 P.M. at Red Shores Summerside featuring the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies as well as the first leg of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series for four and five-year-old pacers.
