Trista Dixon completed a husband and wife race to race feature double in the sulky when she partnered to harness racing victory in the Albion Park 2YO Gold Final on Saturday night.
In the previous race Trista’s husband Grant was the man in charge of the reins behind the superstar pacer Leap To Fame who scored a dominant win in the Group 1 Sunshine Sprint.
The son of Rock N Roll Heaven drew the inside of the second row behind the $1.70 favorite Synchronizer and Dixon made sure her charge secured the spot on the leader’s back awaiting first use of the sprint lane.
Synchronizer enjoyed a good run in the lead however when Dixon exercised her right to enter the sprint lane Balboa Rocky quickly mustered speed bursting through to score with plenty in reserve from Dele Row.
Dixon rarely drives for outside stables and admitted the drive on Balboa Rocky wasn’t on her radar a couple of weeks ago.
“It was very nice to be given the drive on this guy, it was something that just came about last week when they said that I could drive him in the Final,” Dixon said.
BALBOA ROCK REPLAY
Dixon said Balboa Rocky’s racetrack demeanour was improving all the time.
“He has matured a bit and he was really good last week in the heat and I was quite happy with him, and this week he was even better again,” she said.
Balboa Rocky’s victory provided the middle pin of a winning treble for trainer Emma Stewart after Amore Vita’s win in the Group 1 The Golden Girl and The Lost Storm’s authoritative win in a three-year-old race later in the night.
