“Princess,” “Captain” feature at Tioga

PL Princess C (Thinking Out Loud, Jeff Long) and Swan Captain (Swan For All, Jim Taggart Jr.) won the harness racing co-features at Tioga Downs on Saturday (July 22).

In the $10,000 featured fillies & mares pace PL Princess C was first to the quarter in :27.1.  Perfect Queen (Ridge Warren) took the lead heading to the clubhouse turn and was first to the half in :55.1.  PL Princess C took the lead back as they headed to the final turn and was first to three-quarters in 1:23.0.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher St Lad Bijou came all out after the leader.  PL Princess C had plenty in the tank and got the win in 1:55.2.  Prairie Magical (Dan Harvey) was third.

PL PRINCESS C REPLAY

PL Princess C is 4-year-old mare trained by Paul Long for owners Jeff and Charlene Long.  It was the sixth win of her career all this season. She paid $3.90 to win.

In the $10,000 featured trot Slave Labour (Ridge Warren) was first to the quarter in :28.0.  Tantalize Bluechip went on by with a lap to go and was first to the half in :57.4.  Swan Captain made his move down the backstretch.  Tantalize Bluechip was first to three-quarters in 1:26.3.

As they made the turn for home Swan Captain went on by to win in 1:56.4.  Flyhawk El Fuerte (Aaron Byron) came up to finish second.  Sweet Tactics (Tyler Miller) was third best.

Swan Captain is a 4-year-old gelding owned and trained by Rocco Fava.  It was his first win this season.  He now has six career victories. He paid $6.20 to win.

Live racing returns on Sunday (July 23) with a 14-race card featuring two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for sophomore pacing fillies starting at 1 p.m.
