Joy Sisu (4f Brillantissime-Southwind Eliza-Conway Hal) off at 29.4/1 odds rallied past tiring favorite Joviality S (4f Chapter Seven-Pasithea Face-Muscle Hill) in the lane and then held off 14.6/1 Jennifer Sisu (4f Propulsion-Altesse Bourbon-Ready Cash) to win the harness racing Gr. I National Mares Championship (purse to winner 208,800€, 2640 meters autostart, 12 starters) at Axevalla in France today (July 23).
Mika Forss drove the winner from post two for trainer Petri Salmela as she won for fifth time in 27 career starts and second victory in eight 2023 appearances. Second finishing Jennnifer Sisu was reined by Magnus A. Djuse for trainer Timo Nuirmos. Mary Ann Lane (4f Orlando Vici-Secret Lane-Celebrity Secret) was third at 66/1 with trainer Johan Untersteiner at the lines.
The fading Joviality S finished fourth with Erik Adielsson aboard for trainer Sabine Kagebrant. Joviality S, that left today from post one, has four wins in six starts after today and an earlier loss at Solvalla to the France star mare Jazzy Perrine that was fourth yesterday at Enghien and is winless since returning to her home base.
On today’s undercard was the Mares Championship Consolation (purse to winner 8,700€. 2140 meters autostart, 12 starters) and that victory went to 27.1/1 odds and 1.13.2kr timed Manskenstosen (4f Bird Parker-Dyhim Boko-Cantab Hall) reined by trainer Bjorn Goop. This was her maiden victory in 19 career starts. Olivia Coger was second at 4.6/1 for driver Thomas Uhrberg and Urbina Southwind was third at 17.7/1 for Orjan Kihlstrom. Urbina is a daughter of Brillantissime.
Earlier the STL Stoeliten (purse to winner 9.570€, 2140 meters autostart eight starters) went to the impressive 1.4/1 favorite Blackflash Bar (6F Oropuro Bar-Marasque-Daguiet Rapide) with trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro aboard, timed in 1.11.8kr.
This win was her 13th in 36 career starts. Glamorous Rain (5f Muscle Hill-Savvy Yankee-Balanced Image) was second for Orjan Kihlstrom at 4.7/1 and Digital Class (8f Super Photo Kosmos-Full Authority-Scarlet Knight) was third for Ulf Ohlsson at 31/1 odds.
