The Prospect Series, the third tier of the Ontario Sires Stakes program, continued on Wednesday (Jul. 26) at Grand River Raceway with five total divisions.
The two-year-old pacing fillies required three divisions, while their male counterparts were split into two.
Bettin Again (Bettors Delight, Jean Rene Plante) unleashed the last of his pace down the lane after taking over on the far turn to broaden his margin of victory to three-and-a-half lengths in the first division for colts. The gelding, trained by Luc Blais for Determination was home in 1:57.4. Lyons Zephr (Anthony Haughan) won a close finish for second over Mappo Oriley (Paul MacDonell).
BETTIN AGAIN REPLAY
Flag Party (Stag Party, Austin Sorry) forced the white flag from his second-division rivals, blitzing the final quarter en route to an eight-and-a-quarter-length romp in 1:59. Bettors Rush (Travis Henry) was a clear second with Jayport Beach Boy (Mario Baillargeon) three lengths more back in third.
FLAG PARTY REPLAY
Wheres My Phone (Big Jim, Sorrie) soared by her rivals after tipping three-wide turning for home to upset at 10-1 in the first filly split. She was a length-and-a-half clear in 1:59.1 of a blanket finish for second in which Wicked Bling (Haughan) got the place money, and Vivi Z (Travis Cullen) held third.
WHERES MY PHONE REPLAY
Halva Hanover (Bettors Delight, Haughan) dominated the second filly group, holding a sizable cushion from the half to the finish and collecting a 2:00.1 victory with a three-and-three-quarter-length margin. Lyons Shine On (J. Bradley Harris) rushed late to nab Mc Paisley (Baillargeon) for place.
HALVA HANOVER REPLAY
Quiet Assurances (Control The Moment, Bruce Richardson) completed the leg with an impressive three-and-a-half-length score after battling first-up for the lead. She kicked clear past three-quarters and completed her victory in 2:00.1. Place finisher Cheddarisbetter (Sorrie) was four-and-a-half lengths clear of Diamond Girl (Tyler Borth), who was third.
QUIET ASSURANCES REPLAY
All five winners had their pictures taken for the first time.
The rookie pacers will reconvene for leg 3A at Georgian Downs on Aug. 6.
