Harness Analyst – Hambletonian Eliminations card

The biggest event in harness racing, the Hambletonian, is a week away and we have the eliminations for that race and the Hambletonian Oaks at The Meadowlands tonight (Jul. 29).

Here is my full-card analysis and multi-race ticket ideas for the 14-race card:

Best Bet – (6) SYLVIA HANOVER – Race 4

Spot Play – (3) FASHION SCHOONER – Race 10

20-Cent Pick 5 – Race 1 – 4,5,6,7/3,7,9/1,4,7,10/6/4 = $9.60

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 6 – 2,5/5/1,6,8/3,6,8,10 = $4.80

20-Cent Pick 6 – Race 8 – 1,6,8/3,6,8,10/3/3,4/1,2/2,5 = $19.20

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 10 – 3/3,4/1,2/2,5 = $4

Race 1 – 4-5-6-7

The card kicks off with an amateur drivers race and (4) BRAZEN BRAZILIAN should get a setup for his potent late kick and score the threepeat.

Race 2 – 7-9-3-5

(7) ROCKABILLY CHARM has been in amateur drivers races forever. Maybe Jordan Stratton will wake him up in this spot where he seems to fit okay.

Race 3 – 1-7-4-10

Tough race here. I’ll side with (1) CHILLIN BYTHE POOL , who gets McNair and the rail and could trip out at a price.

Race 4 – 6-2-1-4

(6) SYLVIA HANOVER is 1 to 9 here and it would be a massive upset if she got beat in this spot.

Race 5 – 4-7-8-2

(4) CHARLESTON is another standout on paper and she is tough to go against in this spot.

Race 6 – HAMBLETONIAN ELIMINATION #1 – 2-5-8-6

(2) OH WELL is peaking at the right time and he draws perfectly. He’s the one to beat here.

Race 7 – HAMBLETONIAN OAKS ELIMINATION #1 – 5-3-2-6

(5) RAILEE SOMETHING has a tactical advantage on paper and she should be the one to catch when thye turn for home.

Race 8 – HAMBLETONIAN OAKS ELIMINATION #2 – 6-8-1-4

This race looks like it will set up for a stalker and I think (6) SECRET VOLO will take that type of approach tonight. She gets a slight nod in a race where ant of the top three choices can win.

Race 9 – HAMBLETONIAN ELIMINATION #2 – 3-6-8-10

(3) UP YOUR DEO hasn’t been seen since the Yonkers Trot, but he really showed his talent in that race and the elimination for it. This barn is aiming to peak with him next week, but he is good enough to take a trip and rally for the win here.

Race 10 – 3-5-4-2

(3) FASHION SCHOONER has trotted some huge miles over this track – see last year’s Hambletonian Oaks, for example. I think Tetrick lets her roll, sets big fractions and dares his five rivals to come get him.

Race 11 – 4-3-7-5

(4) HUNGRY ANGEL BOY raced big in the Meadowlands Pace final and he is the one to beat here.

Race 12 – 1-2-8-3

(1) AMMO has a great chance get back on track here and lead all the way from the rail.

Race 13 – 2-5-1-3

(2) STRENGTHANDHONOR N should get a much better trip moving to an inside post here and he gets a slight nod.

Race 14 – 6-2-1-3

(6) EARLY ACTION looks solid here on the class drop and he should get an aggressive steer from Miller.
