Ladycorona (Bettors Delight) has stamped herself as the top three-year-old pacing filly at the Hippodrome 3R this season with her third straight triumph, taking a $7,500 division of the Breeders Trophy Series Sunday (July 30) afternoon.

It’s the second round of the series for three-year-olds pacers. Ladycorona started from post 2 in the 10th race second division for driver Pascal Berube.

YS Sensationalcity (Jocelyn Gendron) had the rail and left hard to control the inside as Berube also sent Ladycorona for the lead and those two battled neck and neck through a :27.3 opening quarter before Ladycorona won out.

Berube then backed her off to a half mile in just :59. Entering the backstretch Berube had a strangle hold on his filly going by the three-quarters in 1:28.2, winning with ease by two and one-half lengths in 1:57.3. YS Sensationalcity was second with Mach N Cheddar (David Pilon) third.

LADYCORONA REPLAY

It was the fourth win of the year for Ladycorona. She now had two wins in the series for trainer Yves Tessier and owner/breeder Sotirios Anastasopoulos. She paid just $2.10 to win.

The first division of the Breeders Trophy Series for the fillies was the 5th race where race favorite Pocahontas Du Lac (Betterthancheddar) and driver Pierre-Luc Roy did not disappoint the race fans as she wired the field in 1:58.4 by one and three-quarter lengths. Irish Mary (Pascal Berube) was second with Godiva Ice Cream (Robert Shepherd) third.

It was Pocahontas Du Lac’s first win in nine starts this year. Last year she was the Quebec Champion. She is trained by David Pilon for owners Louis-Philippe Roy, Pierre Luc Roy, Maude Larouche and Jean Allaire. She paid just $2.20 to win.

POCAHONTAS DU LAC REPLAY

Owner/breeder Guy Corbeil of Mirabel, Quebec saw both his homebreds sweep the two $7,500 divisions of the Breeders Trophy Series for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers. Both horses were driven to victory by Stephane Brosseau and are trained by Maxime Velaye.

First up was the 3rd race where Fantome En Joie (Shadow Play) was able to wire the field from the start for Brosseau, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:57.1 over Kansas Panic (Robert Shepherd) with Maximus BG (Jocelyn Gendron) third.

It was the second straight win and fifth win in just seven starts for Fantome En Joie, who did not race as a two-year-old. He paid $3.10 to win.

FANTOME EN JOIE REPLAY

Then in the 7th race second $7,500 division it was Brosseau again, wiring the field with the race favorite Attitude (Leader Bayama) in 1:58 by two and one-half lengths in 1:58 over Kingston Panic (Robert Shepherd) with Albert Alpha (Jimmy Gagnon) third.

It was the third win this season for Attitude who paid $3.20 to win.

ATTITUDE REPLAY

Guy Corbeil, Maxime Velaye and Stephane Brosseau made it a triple on Sunday as their Aladdin (Shadow Play) wired the field in the 8th race $7,000 Preferred Pace in 1:55.4. That was the fastest mile on the afternoon.

With his three victories, Velaye is now one win away from leading trainer Marc-Andre Simoneau 15 to 14.

Track Notes: Pascal Berube led all driver with four winners. Stephane Brosseau had a driving triple and trainer Maxime Velaye had his triple. Due to the Grand Prix Auto Racing in the town of Trois-Rivieres next week, there will be no live racing at H3R next weekend. Live racing will resume on Friday, August 11 with the second round of the Future Stars Series for two-year-old trotters. For more information, visit here.
