Monticello, NY— The 2-5 favorite Chip Chip Conway (Conway Hall) won the featured harness racing Open Trot by three lengths at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Aug. 2).
As they left the gate, Swizzle Hanover took the early lead from the inside with Chip Chip Conway rushing up from the center of the track. E R Shane tried coming on the outside early and then went off-stride. At the quarter mile, Chip Chip Conway had the lead over Swizzle Hanover in :28:3.
Jim Taggart had Chip Chip Conway leading the way by a length over Swizzle Hanover in second and Patrick Hanover in third at the half in :59:3.
At the three quarters 1:28:2, Chip Chip Conway was still in the lead with Swizzle Hanover on the inside and a late first-over challenge by Tesla Seelster.
Chip Chip Conway won with ease in 1:57:3 by three open lengths. Swizzle Hanover took second with Patick Hanover third.

Chip Chip Conway is trained by Gary Messenger and owned by Kenneth Weckstein of Maryland and Gary Messenger from New York. He paid $2.90 to win.
