Climbing up the ladder of harness racing success, Tigers Watching N (American Ideal) showed her ability to win from on or off the pace in capturing the $14,400 feature pace for Fillies & Mares at Harrah’s Philadelphia Thursday (Aug. 10) afternoon.
The 3rd race feature saw Split Pot and driver Simon Allard leave from post seven and take early command of the race. Then it was a chaotic battle by the opening quarter mile in :27.3 with 8-1 Tigers Watching N and trainer-driver Ivan Llopez on the rail in fourth place as Lodestar (Todd McCarthy) was first-over and Sweet Home (Tim Tetrick) three-wide and then she went off-stride.
Lodestar then took the lead away from Split Pot as Llopez moved Tigers Watching N first-over going to the half mile in :55.2.
As they raced down the backstretch, Era Of Love (Troy Beyer) made a big three-wide move to try and loop the field, but they were not able to get past Tigers Watching N as Lodestar still led at the three-quarters in 1:23.3.
Around the final turn, Tigers Watching N cleared to the lead and then took off down the stretch, winning in a romp by four and three-quarter lengths in 1:53.3. Sanders Hanover (David Miller) came on for second place with Era Of Love third.
TIGERS WATCHING N REPLAY
It was the second straight win and third victory of the season for Tigers Watching N. The seven-year-old mare is owned by Jose Cervantes and paid $19.80 to win.
