Prince Of Rock ($3.50) began quickly from his outside front row draw and tackled the $1.85 favorite The Locomotive for the early lead as the favoured pair cleared out from their rivals.
Ridis was determined to find the front and Nathan Jack elected to take the sit on The Locomotive and wait for the last crack at his main danger.
The pair enjoyed a two horse war during the last 400 metres of the race with The Locomotive looming half way down the home straight however Prince Of Rock refused to yield holding on to score by two metres in a slick mile rate of 1:57.2.
āItās a thrill and a half as I didnāt think that I would ever win a race like this,ā a delighted Ridis said after the race.
Ridis admitted she thought it was a task to stave off The Locomotive in the run to the line.
āWhen Nathan (Jack) came up next to me I thought he would go straight past but Prince Of Rock felt the other horse was there and he just fought on ā he just keeps on going and wouldnāt let him past,ā he said.
āHe felt really strong tonight and once we got the lead he settled a little bit and just wanted to run.ā
The son of Wishing Stone has now won his past four starts taking his stake earnings to more than $80,000
