It’s My Show returned to the racing wars on Monday at the Red Mile and not only did he win his $80,000 second leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes, but he did in world record fashion.
The 10th race co-feature got underway with Bamboozler (Dexter Dunn) shooting out to the early lead with race favorite Cannibal (Yannick Gingras) grabbing the two-hole trip. They went by the opening quarter in :26.4. No made a move to challenge yet Bamboozler sped to the half mile in :53.1.
Then down the backstretch driver Scott Zeron took It’s My Show first-over in fourth position with For One Inmy Life (Andy McCarthy) second-over as they passed the three-quarters in an amazing 1:19.3.
Coming down the stretch, Cannibal took the lead from a tiring Bamboozler with It’s My Show collaring Cannibal and with his :26.2 last quarter mile, It’s My Show took off to win by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:46.4, knocking nearly a full second off the world record. Cannibal was second with For Once Inmy Life third.
IT’S MY SHOW REPLAY
The former world mark for three-year-old pacing gelding was 1:47.3 set by Dealt A Winner in 2015.
For It’s My Show (Sweet Lou), it was a lifetime mark and his eighth win in only nine lifetime starts. He is trained by Hall of Famer Linda Toscano for Richard Young and Joanne Young. He paid $4.74 to win.
$600,000 yearling purchase Date Night Hanover (Chapter Seven) needed the photo finish camera to declare her the winner over Volcanic Blue Chip by a nose in the $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes second leg for two-year-old trotting fillies.
The 7th race co-feature saw Date Night Hanover and driver Brian Sears first on the lead out of the starting gate and they led to the opening quarter mile in :28.4. Then Miss Dior (Andy McCarthy) came charging up on the outside, taking the lead away at the half mile marker in :56.1.
Content to sit the pocket trip through the three-quarters in 1:25.1, Sears then took Date Night Hanover to the outside and had the lead by the top of the stretch.
It was a gusty battle to the wire as coming on the outside was Volcanic Blue Chip and those two raced neck and neck through the wire with the photo finish camera declaring Date Night Hanover the winner by a nose in 1:54. Special Talent (Dexter Dunn) was third.
