Lepanto (Barton Dalious, Bar Hopping) captures the $7,500 featured harness racing trot as John MacDonald drives six winners on Saturday night (Aug. 19) at Vernon Downs.
Discus Hanover (John MacDonald) was first to the quarter in :27.2.Ā Ā JNR Express (Truman Gale) took over heading around the first turn.Ā Ā Grey Clouds (Dan Daley) came first-up going down the backstretch.Ā Ā Grey Clouds was first to the half in :58.0.Ā Ā Grey Clouds and JNR Express battled all the way around the final turn.Ā Ā Grey Clouds got to three-quarters first in 1:27.1.
LEPANTO REPLAY
Lepanto ($4.20) was fifth at three-quarters.Ā Ā He came charging down the home stretch and blew right on by to win in 1:56.0.Ā Ā Poker Play (Steeven Genois) came flying late to snatch second.Ā Ā Discus Hanover finished third.
Lepanto is a 5-year-old gelding.Ā Ā He is owned by the Betcha Win Stable and trained by Jeff Sorenson.Ā Ā It was his seventh win this season and his 18thĀ career victory.
MacDonald got his wins with Ashleeās Supreme, Sugaree Express, All Heart I Am, Sgt Papa Daddy, Last Call Larry, and he finished in a dead heat with Sweet Sofie T along with SVF Cash Deposit (Dalious).
