Tenzing Bromac can match the best

Trainer Greg Bond is adamant Tenzing Bromac (Bettor’s Delight) can take the necessary steps required to become a force in the local harness racing Free-For-All ranks.

Tenzing Bromac won for the first time in fast class at his most recent start earlier this month and is favoured to win again in tomorrow’s Hoist Solutions-August Cup (2536m) at Gloucester Park.

The five-year-old, who has drawn barrier three, is joined in the August Cup by stablemates Galactic Star (barrier one), Patronus Star (five) and Himself (nine).

Bond, who trains in partnership with wife Skye, said Tenzing Bromac was showing all the right signs as he looks to work his way to November’s TABtouch-WA Pacing Cup.

“Tenzing Bromac is stepping up every campaign,” Bond told TABradio.

“We’re looking forward to the next 18 months to two years with him.

“I think he’s a genuine Cups contender with ongoing improvement.

“Sometimes it does take horses a little while to acclimatise, but if he continues his level of improvement as he has done over the last couple of seasons, there’s no reason why he couldn’t be a force in a Pacing Cup this year.”

Tenzing Bromac, who will be driven by Deni Roberts tomorrow night, enjoyed a prosperous time over the summer period, running placings in both the Golden Nugget (2536m) and Nights Of Thunder Final (1730m).

While he gets an opportunity to win the $50,000 event tomorrow night, he’s likely to face stiff opposition from Galactic Star.

Bond said he expected Galactic Star to provide strong resistance from the favourable draw, while barrier three could prove tricky for Tenzing Bromac.

“He’s probably racing the best he has for three or four seasons now,” he said.

“We lost him for a bit there, but he’s in great fettle.

“From barrier one, we will be looking to hold up and give him his shot in front.

“It’s going to be a little bit tactical.

“I’m pretty sure he (Tenzing Bromac) will settle forward somewhere and should prove hard to beat.”

Tenzing Bromac is the $2.25 favourite with TABtouch for the August Cup, with Mighty Ronaldo ($3.70) and Galactic Star ($5) the only other runners in single figures.
