After racing at Wyndham on Thursday Oamaru harness racing trainer Phil Williamson and Stonewall Stud’s Steve and Amanda Telfer move their attention to Addington for Friday night (Sep. 8).
Williamson has Rowe Cup winner Love N The Port (Love You) resuming in the G3 Ordeal Cup. He hasn’t been sighted at any trials and workouts and he says both Love N The Port and Majestic Man will need the run.
$800,000 winner Majestic Man (Majestic Son) also in the G3 Ordeal Cup is resuming after a break and hasn’t had a workout or a trial.
Phil rates Majestic Man as his best bet for Addington.
Williamson has won the Ordeal Cup twice; with Jasmyn’s Gift (Sundon) in 2006 and Springbank Richard (Sundon) in 2009.
The Oamaru stable has Our Golden Kenny (Love You) in Race Nine and Dwindle Star (Muscle Mass) in Race Two.
Our Golden Kenny has shown solid form but at her last start she broke and trotted rough at times. This is a drop back in class for her.
Dwindle Star didn’t get a run at her last start at Winton with Nathan Williamson hanging on to her all the way down the straight.
The Telfers two open class horses starting in the G3 New Brighton Cup are Allamericanlover (American Ideal) and BD Joe (Roll With Joe).
BD Joe has had two trials to get him ready for the $40,000 pacing feature.
Allamericanlover has had two starts back this prep. She ran fourth behind Mossdale Ben (Bettor’s Delight) in the G3 Maurice Holmes Vase at her last start and Telfer’s happy with her progress.
In Race Three the stable lines up last start winner Obsession (Captaintreacherous). She gets an ideal draw at one.
Telfer rates Obsession as the stable’s best bet.
Cyren Shard (Vincent) gets her chance in the second heat of the Nevele R Fillies Series. Her form in the north has been good but this is her biggest test to date.
Aardiebytheseaside (Downbytheseaside) draws barrier five in Race Eight. She’s won her last two starts, in Addington and Auckland. She finished second to Millwood Nike (Captaintreacherous) in the G1 Ace of Diamonds last season.
Cya Art (Art Major) is resuming in Race Six. His last start was the Listed New Zealand Country Cups Championship Final in May when he ran a creditable sixth.
