The well bred harness racing filly Perfect Potion (Captaintreacherous) won for Waikouaiti trainer Amber Hoffman at Wyndham today (Sep. 7) in only her second start.
āSheās still quite green and still learning her trade but thereās a bit of motor there,ā Hoffman said after the run.
From the outside of the front row driver Brad Williamson settled the three year old filly off the early pace before he let her slide forward with 600 metres to run. As the field levelled out for the run home Perfect Potion cruised to the lead. When Williamson pulled the ear plugs the filly let down nicely and went on to win by a length and a half running the 1609 metres in 1-58.7.
āBrad was happy with her because she did it easy enough. Sheās so relaxed and doesnāt take anything out of herself so we werenāt too worried about him going early. She feels like sheāll stay all day.ā
Perfect Potion is out of the ten win Courage Under Fire mare Secret Potion which won the G1 Northern Oaks and the G1 Nevele R Fillies final plus eight other races.
She was bred by Brian West under the Studholme Bloodstock banner which also owns the filly.
āSheās very well bred and weāre very lucky to have her in the team.ā
PERFECT POTION REPLAY
Meanwhile Hoffmanās open class pacer One Change (Bettorās Delight) was at the Oamaru trials yesterday.
āHe was against two maiden pacers and Mighty Reactor (Auckland Reactor) and he just sat three back on the fence. I said to Brad (Williamson) to run a nice last half. He ran home in 55.9 under a hold and he pulled up good,ā Hoffman said of the run.
One Change will have one more trial before racing the Hannon Memorial at Oamaru on Sunday 17th September.
āHeās really developed this time in. Heās big as a bull. Weāve put a nomination in for the Cup (New Zealand Cup) but weāre not too worried if we go in the Junior Free for All because he went so good in that race last year. He goes well fresh but we like to space his races. In saying that he can back up as long as you donāt do too much with him during the week.ā
