Snooze snaps up ‘fantastic’ four as Vicbred heats finish

Thursday night (Sep. 7) at Bendigo looked a big one on paper for Chris Svanosio, and that’s how it panned out for the Romsey harness racing horseman who dominated the Vicbred Super Series heats for four-year-old trotters.

Svanosio trained the first four winners on the card, with Aroha Koe (Love You) and Arcee Phoenix (Trixton) taking out the qualifiers for the colts and geldings before Queen Of Quebec (Used To Me) and Lady Adelia (Creatine) prevailed in heats for the mares.

The other Vicbred heat for the four-year-old mares went to Andy Gath-trained Just A Bit Touchy.

Svanosio drove all of his winners except for Queen Of Quebec, who was partnered by Ross Payne in her fast-finishing sprint lane victory.

“It’s fantastic,” Svanosio told Campbell’s Comments.

“You just try and come and get the first winner, so to get four in-a-row – it doesn’t happen very often.

“We were pretty confident that a few of them could run good races. Arcee Phoenix, Aroha Koe and Lady Adelia, the draws looked good for them and that worked out pretty good.

“Queen Of Quebec’s obviously got plenty of ability, but she’s pretty tricky and (driver) Rossco (Payne) did a great job with her.”

The first six horses across the line in last night’s two heats for the colts and geldings progress to Group 1 finals at Melton on September 16, as do the first four past the post in each of the three mares’ races.
