Harness racing driver Yannick Gingras was on fire at Yonkers Raceway Thursday (Sept. 14) evening as he won four races on the card, including both $36,000 Open events.
First was the 2nd race Open Handicap for the trotters where Gingras took race favorite HL Revadon (Andover Hall) to the lead just at the opening quarter in :27.2 with Abruzzo (Jason Bartlett) getting the two-hole seat.
HL Revadon led to the half in :57, then the three-quarters in 1:25.2. No Mass Drama (Scott Zeron) came first-over and got within three-quarters of a length of HL Revadon.
HL Revadon and Gingras proved to be too strong in the stretch, winning by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:54.3. Abruzzo was second with No Mas Drama third.
HL REVADON REPLAY
It was the seventh win of the year for HL Revadon. The seven-year-old gelding is trained by Ron Burke for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Yannick Gingras and Frank Canzone. He paid $3.20 to win.
Then it was Gingras using the same tactics in winning the 8th race $36,000 3-5 Year Old Open Pace with Simon Says Hanover (Captaintreacherous).
Moving out after the start, Simon Says Hanover and Gringas worked their way to take command from Shake It (Jason Bartlett) and opening up two lengths at the first quarter in :26.4.
Simon Says Says Hanover then led the field past the half mile in :55.4 and the three-quarters in 1:23.3 with no one pulling on the right lines.
Starting down the stretch, Simon Says Hanover was up by one and one-half lengths but coming to the finish was Greg The Leg (Brent Holland) as Simon Says Hanover held on to win by a neck. Luckbewithalex (Jordan Stratton) was third.
SIMON SAYS HANOVER REPLAY
It was the sixth win of the year for Simon Says Hanover. A five-year-old gelding, he is trained by Jared Bako for owner Randy Zane and paid $5.70 to win.
