Captaintreacherous colt destroys rivals in 3YO Vicbred Final

Captaintreacherous colt Petracca made it nine wins from 12 starts tonight (Sep. 16) after he easily won the Group One Vincent $150,000 3YO Colts & Geldings Vicbred Super Series Final in the hands of harness racing driver Mark Pitt.

A raging $1.10 favourite in the race, Petracca led from barrier one and controlled the race until the home turn. In the straight Pitt pressed the go button and Petracca ran away from his rivals easing down to win by 10 metres in a solid 1:55.2 mile rate for the 2240m mobile.

“He is a lovely little fella,” driver Mark Pitt said after the race.

“I am surprised he hasn’t won a group one, but he had the draw tonight so it was always good to use the advantage,”

The winner cut out his last 800m in a slick 54.2 seconds.

“He just travelled so well and when I asked him to go he went tonight,” Pitt said.

The win gave trainer Emma Stewart her second Group One of the night after Stormryder earlier won The Storm Inside Vicbred Super Series final for 2YO pacing colts and geldings.
