Four-year-old harness racing mare Amore Vita (Art Major) has become just the second female pacer to complete a clean sweep of the Vicbred series after winning tonight’s $150,000 Rock N Roll Heaven Vicbred Super Series Final for 4YO Mares in the hands of driver Chris Alford.

Amore Vita

The New Zealand owned Amore Vita previously won the two and three-year-old Vicbred finals also with Alford aboard.

“It is great that she can join Maajida as the only mares that have won the 2s, 3s and 4s,” driver Chris Alford said after the race.

Maajida (Somebeachsomewhere) also achieved the threepeat winning the 2yo,3yo and 4yo finals in 2019,2020 and 2021.

In tonight’s final, Amore Vita balanced up in midfield before Alford set her alight and zipped to the front with a lap to go. It was little more than trackwork from there as she cruised down to the line, winning comfortably in a 1:54.2 mile rate for the 2240m journey. The final 800m was run in a slick 55 seconds.

“She may have been a little bit flat from last week where she ran super, tonight she felt a little bit doughy but it might have just been because she was in front and waiting for them a bit, she is getting a bit smart,” Alford said.

Just Hope ran home well for second for trainer/driver Nathan Jack, with former Kiwi mare Rakero Rebel finishing well for third.

Amore Vita has now won 18 of her 35 career starts and more than $600,000 in stakes. Emma Stewart trained the winner and grabs her fourth Group one of the night.
