Favored M-M’s Dream (Swan For All), parked most of the mile, was too good for her harness racing rivals as she powered her way to victory in the $90,000 Miss Versatility at Delaware County Fair on Thursday afternoon (Sept. 21st).
In winning for the 25th time in 31 starts, M-M’s Dream was forced to do it the hard way after getting out left by a couple of rivals, and she was full value for the 1:52.4 score.
Eternal Lee (Andrew McCarthy) shot straight to the front at the start with Ghostintheshell S (Peter Wrenn) landing in the pocket. M-M’s dream floated out but got circled on the first turn by Raised By Lindy (Yannick Gingras) who was intent on making front.
That left M-M’s Dream sitting third as the opening quarter was reached in 27.1, a spot that driver Dave Miller would soon ask his mare to vacate. Gingras kept his foot on the gas heading to the half which was trotted in 55.2 leaving M-M’s Dream parked but methodically advancing.
Heading to the three-quarter pole, Warawee Xenia (Tim Tetrick) grabbed M-M’s Dream’s cover and looked dangerous. Miller would get his mare to start to edge past the leader with Warrawee Xenia also advancing.
M-M’s Dream, despite getting the toughest trip, held her rivals safe for a one-length win. Adare Castle (James Macdonald) came on late for second and Warrawee Xenia held third. The winner returned $2.80 as the favorite.
