Vertical Squirt (Vertical Horizon) won his first race in 26 starts this harness racing season with a lifetime-best victory at Fraser Downs tonight (Sep. 22) in the trackās Preferred Pace.
The gelding sat third while Mach Steady (John Abbott) provided the fractions of :27.3, :56.4, and 1:23.4. Vertical Squirt commenced his rally for Clinton Warrington as they came around the turn, and he out-kicked Mach Steady and pocket-sitter Itll Be Fine (Jeff Hunt) for the win in 1:52. Itll Be Fine passed Mach Steady for second.
VERTICAL SQUIRT REPLAY
It was Vertical Squirtās first win in 360 days and his 13th lifetime. Warrington has trained the six-year-old gelding, whom he owns, to $92,834 in earnings from 87 starts.
Drivers Kelly Hoerdt and Tyson Jacoby topped the card with six wins each.
Fraser Downs will resume racing on Thursday, Sep. 28.
