Leading from start to finish over a sloppy track, Gold Digger King (Pet Rock) had no issues for harness racing driver Tyler Smith in capturing the $25,000 Open Pace Thursday (Sept. 28) at Hollywood Dayton Raceway.
The sixth race feature saw Larry Karr (Kayne Kauffman) on the lead early only to be passed by Gold Digger King at the opening quarter mile in :27.1.
Once on the lead, Gold Digger King was challenged first-over by race favorite Bernie (Sam Widger), who was unable to gain ground by the half mile in :55.2 and was able to settle into the two-hole position by the three-quarters in 1:22.2.
With no one challenging on the outside, Gold Digger King and Smith were able to cruise home, winning by one length in 1:50.1 over Bernie with Angers Bayama (Brett Miller) third.
GOLD DIGGER KING REPLAY
It was the fourth win this season for the seven-year-old gelding. Gold Digger King is trained by Scott Mogan for owner Linda Van Camp and paid $6.60 to win.
