The Andy Gath trained Outlaw Man (Sweet Lou) showed he wouldn’t have been out of place in the Kilmore Cup by smashing the harness racing track record in the 7-Eleven Cup.
Outlaw Man was caught parked outside the leader and $3.10 favorite Captain Bellasario who was fired up and badly over raced during the race and it was no surprise to see Outlaw Man run past the leader around the home turn.
Outlaw Man returned a mile rate of 1:54.2 for the 2180 metres eclipsing Captain Ravishing’s previous record by .4 of a second.

Outlaw Man was an emergency for the Kilmore Cup later in the evening.
“That was massive, I’m gobsmacked,” Kate Gath said after the race.
“He’s come back better this time in, his run last time was very good but tonight I didn’t think I would get to the fence so I didn’t think I was a winning hope and to do what he did tonight was pretty impressive,” she said.
Gath said the son of Sweet Lou held an advantage of racing near the lead despite facing the breeze in a brutally run affair.
“When you’re running that time it’s pretty hard to make up ground from back in the field and they just couldn’t do it tonight,” she said.
