Nome Hanover (Well Said, Matt Kakaley, $10.80) and Lexus Kody (Archangel, Simon Allard, $2.60) captured harness racing victories in their respective $16,500 divisions at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania on Saturday (Sept. 30).
Out of the gate, Play The Field (Jim Pantaleano) took the early lead in the $16,500 pace. Pocket trip Virgil N (Simon Allard) was racing in second and Nome Hanover was in third as they passed the quarter mile in :26.3.
Play The Field was holding on to the lead, with Virgil N following closely in second. Nome Hanover rushed to the front to battle Play The Field for the lead from the outside as they passed the half mile in :55.1. Benjiās Best (Geo. Napolitano Jr) moved to challenge Virgil N for third.
As they got to the three-quarter mile mark in 1:22.4, Nome Hanover had a decisive three and a half lengths over Play The Field. Virgil N and Benjiās Best were still in a battle for third.
At the top of the stretch, Nome Hanover was getting further away from the rest of the field. Modern Rock (Anthony Napolitano) started to move towards the front from the outside. Nome Hanover crossed the wire six and a half lengths ahead of Modern Rock in 1:50.3. Benjiās Best finished in third.
NOME HANOVER REPLAY
Nome Hanover is a 6-year-old gelding trained by Joe Pavia Jr for owners John Whitig, Michael Rich, Jeffrey Hess, and Pint Size Racing LLC.
In the $16,500 trot, the 1-5 favorite Lexus Kody left the gate first, taking the early lead from the inside. Tnt Blue Chip (Marcus Miller) followed about a head behind in second. Aggiornamento (Tyler Buter) was on the inside in third. There was a gap of five lengths until Mister Boinga (Braxten Boyd), who was racing in fourth. They passed the quarter mile marker in :27.1.
Lexus Kody was holding on to the lead, with Aggiornamento sitting the pocket in second and Tnt Blue Chip following in third. They got to the half in :55.4.
Lexus Kody led the way by a length over Aggiornamento. Tnt Blue Chip was in third, and Mister Boinga was on the outside in fourth. As they came to the three-quarter mile in 1:24.2, Tnt Blue Chip moved up to challenge Aggiornamento for second.
At the top of the stretch, Lexus Kody was holding on to the lead by a length and a half over Aggiornamento, who was closing the gap from the inside. Lexus Kody crossed the wire in 1:53, a head over Aggiornamento. Tnt Blue Chip finished in third.
