Tattoo Artist (He’s Watching) stormed to his fifth straight victory and a new harness racing track record of 1:48 in the $250,000 Dayton Pacing Derby on Saturday night, Sept. 30 at Hollywood at Dayton Raceway.
Driven by Louis Roy for trainer Ian Moore, Tattoo Artist is owned by Let It Ride Stables, Frank Cannon, Diamond Creek Racing, and Bottom Line Racing. Little Rocket Man, a 23-1 longhsot, was sent straight to the top by driver Scott Zeron, but 1-2 Tattoo Arist was not going to be ignored, fighting to grab early command of the field to the :26.4 first quarter. Positions remained unchanged to the :55.1 half, as 14-1 Allywag Hanover (Todd McCarthy) was sent stalking first up as the field went to the 1:21.4 three-quarter marker.
Tattoo Artist appeared to be simply on cruise control, as he pulled away from his rivals in the lane to secure the victory and new track record clocking for his connections.
Little Rocket Man was second, with 3-1 Bythemissal third for Yannick Gingras, and 95-1 super longshot Forever Boy was fourth for driver Dexter Dunn.
