Logan Park (Archangel) matched his career-best performance from a week ago as he defeated his $42,000 Free For All Trot harness racing opponents at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Oct. 9).
Oney Hall (Paul MacDonell) crossed over in front of the gelding to take the early initiative, and Logan Park pushed forward to secure the pocket to the quarter in :27.2. Doug McNair sent Logan Park to the top coming down the backstretch, and the new leader brought the field to the half in :55.2.
Logan Park raced unchallenged to three-quarters in 1:23.3, leading with a small cushion. No one was able to contest the gelding as he motored to the finish to score by two-and-a-half lengths in 1:50.3.
Amigo Volo (Louis-Philippe Roy) moved up to second off a three-hole trip. White Tiger (James MacDonald) made a late charge for third.
LOGAN PARK REPLAY
Logan Park has won three Free For Alls in a row after making three starts in Grand Circuit competitions. The gelding, trained by Robert Kyle Fellows, is 10-for-17 this year and has taken all of his wins in open competition. The five-year-old has 22 career wins in 61 appearances, and he is approaching seven figures in earnings ā a third-place finish or better will take his $995,492 total over the top. He races for Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Reg Higgs of Strathroy, and Arpad Szabo of Bradford.
Also on the card, Simcoe Stakes winner and 2022 Breeders Crown champion Gaines Hanover (Cantab Hall) won an overnight event. The gelding slingshotted off second-over cover and rolled to a 1:53 victory, his third of the season. The Richard Moreau-trained gelding is now nine-for-17 lifetime and has earned $689,136.
