Century Mach (Jk Royal Flush) ended an eight-month dry spell on Thursday (Oct. 12) as she captured the Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap at Fraser Downs.
The West Coast mainstay capitalized on a pocket trip for her harness racing victory. She fell in line behind pylon starter Western Summit (Scott Knight), who showed the way through :27.3, :56.4, and 1:25.1 panels with persistent pressure from the parked-out Rison Star (Tyson Jacoby).
Century Mach found clearance to her outside as the field swung for home, and she fought past Western Summit in the stretch to secure the victory in 1:53.4.
Western Summit held onto second over the closing Moosette (Brandon Campbell).
CENTURY MACH REPLAY
Century Mach had gone 17 starts without a win between May and Thursday, but she missed a cheque only once in that span and hit the board 12 times. The mare, also owned and trained by Hoerdt, bounces between the Preferreds and high conditioned events at the West Coast venues. The five-year-old is now 24-for-86 lifetime with earnings of $168,348.
The win gave Hoerdt a triple ā he also scored with Chuck You Farlie (Custard The Dragon, 1:54.4) and More Monet (Captive Audience, 1:57.2).
Fraser Downs is set to continue racing on Friday, Oct. 13 at 6:00 p.m. PDT. The card will feature a Preferred Pace.
