Harness racing’s Grand Circuit comes to Northfield Park tonight (Oct. 14) as some of the best aged pacing mares knock heads in the $100,000 Courageous Lady. There is also a full card of sires stakes championships.
Here is my full analysis of the 15-race card and some multi-race tickets to consider. Good Luck with your plays.
Best Bet – CHARLIE MAY – Race 12
Spot Play – CV’S SERENA – Race 6
$1 Pick 4 – Race 2 – 13/2345/136/16 = $24
$1 Pick 5 – Race 6 – 157/145/23/79/4 = $36
50-Cent Pick 6 – Race 8 – 23/79/24/136/2 = $12
$1 Pick 4 – Race 11 – 136/2/49/2348 = $12
Race 1 – 6-1-5-3-8
We kick the card off with a High-5 and (6) LEGEND N CRESS is clearly the fastest in this Ohio Fairs dash for 2YO pacing fillies. She should top the High-5 at a very short price.
Race 2 – 1-3-4-5
This Ohio Fairs Championship dash for 2YO trotting fillies features a great matchup between (1) HOME RUN QUEEN and (3) DESERT HAYZ. I’ll give the nod to the former based on post position advantage.
Race 3 – 4-5-2-3
(4) DRAGON MEDICINE raced big in defeat at Dayton, and he is one of three or four that can win this race. It makes sense to spread here on Pick 4 tickets.
Race 4 – 1-3-6-5
(1) WHISKEY PEDDLER should use rail control here to force his rivals to take a seat early and he has a good chance to lead these all the way.
Race 5 – 6-1-2-3
(6) POLK SALAD ANNIE has been a win machine and she got a perfect tightener in for this Ohio Fairs Championship for sophomore filly pacers.
Race 6 – 7-5-1-9
(7) CV’S SERENA has been a win machine with 15 wins from 33 starts and she should offer a square price here starting from a wide post. Call to upset.
Race 7 – 1-5-4-8
This is a great betting race with several live options. I’ll side with (1) VH VOLT, who gets a key driver change to Wrenn Jr. and the rail.
Race 8 – 2-3-1-5
(2) LONG TOM JESS was beaten less than two lengths vs. NW4 after starting from post 8 and that should set him up perfectly for this Ohio Fairs Championship race; top call.
Race 9 – 9-7-4-3
This is a good spot for (9) ATLAS HANOVER and his teamster Lauren Harmon is one of the better woman drivers. He gets the call to take this edition of the Pace For The Cure.
Race 10 – 4-2-3-8
(4) SHE’SONEBADMOMMA is one of three sent out here by the Burke Brigade and she has a good chance to control this race from the outset.
Race 11 – 3-1-6-8
(3) SMOKING JET has won 26 of his last 61 starts since Jan 1/22 and he is strictly the one to beat in this Ohio Sires Stakes Championship for aged male trotters.
Race 12 – 2-1-5-4
(2) CHARLIE MAY figures to be very tough in here racing against Ohio breds and starting from an inside post, enough said.
Race 13 – 4-9-3-2
(4) ZANATTA and (9) UCANDOIT BLUE CHIP renew their rivalry here in the Courageous Lady after finishing 1-2 in the Jugette. I see the former turning the tables having drawn better tonight.
Race 14 – 4-8-3-2
(4) REFINED draws perfectly here for a big speed try and she should be the one to catch and beat.
Race 15 – 9-6-2-1
(9) CRÈME DELIGHT will likely make an early move to take control of this race and once she clears to the front, she should prove hard to pass.
