HARRINGTON, DE – Howard Taylor, Jeff Billings and Dylan Davis’ Virgo (Always A Virgin) with harness racing driver Corey Callahan was a 1:53 winner in the $18,000 pacing feature Monday (Oct. 16) at Harrington Raceway.
Callahan, who had red hot last week with 11 wins in 3 nights of racing at Harrington, picked up where he left off with two wins early, including a second-over win with Virgo, who followed Sir Charles Of Sky’s cover into the race. Virgo fanned three-wide at the top of stretch and hit the wire first by three-quarters of a length. On The Cards N closed ground late to be second while Sir Charles Of Sky was third.
Trained by Dylan Davis, it was the 4th win of the year for Virgo, a 5-year-old gelding who paid $4.40 to win.
The race was named in honor of Delaware Standardbred Owners Association Executive Director Sal DiMario, who will be retiring in November. The well-respected DiMario has over 40 years’ experience in the business and served in his current position for 27 years, representing Delaware horsemen.
