The 12th leg of the Grand National du Trot (purse 90,000€, 2550 meters distance handicap. 5–10-year-olds) was held at Reims, France Wednesday (Oct. 18) and even-money harness racing favorite Gaspar d’Angis (7g Quaro-Reveuse d’Angis-Korean) scored in 1.11.9kr.
He traveled 2575 meters including a 25-meter handicap, with Eric Raffin driving for owner/trainer J.M. Baudouin. The winner now has 15 career victories in 57 starts for 452,160€ earned.
Gaz d’Occagnes (7f Titan d’Occagnes-Nemenina-Cezio Josselyn) was second at 5.9/1 odds with Gabriele Gelormini driving for trainer Gilles Currens and Ecurie J. Konjovic. Third was 4.7/1 Gitano (7g Tucson-Que d’Oseille-Hermes du Pericard) reined by Theo Duvaldestin for trainer Thierry Duvaldestin and owner Yannick Desmet.
The GNT points leaders are Gaspar d’Angis with 121 in nine GNT starts; next is Horace du Goutier with 94 points in seven GNT starts; and Howdy Partner is third with 32 points in three GNT appearances.
The next GNT races are November 8 at Nantes, November 22 at Mauquenchy and the finale on December 3 at Paris-Vincennes.
Coming up on October 22 is the last leg of the Tour European du Trotteur Francais to be raced at Mons Ghlin Belgium Hippodrome de Wallonie. Nine starters will race 2300 meters autostart for a purse of 50,000€. The lineup follows:
