Despite having to come first-over and get parked out for more than half a mile, Eurobound (Love You) and harness racing driver Corey Callahan were still able to score a mild upset in winning the $20,000 feature trot Friday (Oct. 20) at Harrahās Philadelphia.
The 7th race saw JL Cruise (Simon Allard) first on the lead from post six with Keiziesky Hanover (George Napolitano, Jr.) sitting the two-hole trip to the opening quarter mile in :27.2.
Then it was Eurobond and Callahan coming first-over from fifth place but taking their time moving up on JL Cruise as he led the field past the half mile marker in :58.1. Aldebaran Zeus A (Tony Morgan) was following second-over behind Eurobond.
As the field raced down the backstretch, Eurobond, at odds of 5-1, kept marching towards JL Cruise, collaring the race leader by the three-quarters in 1:26.3.
Those two leaders would lock horns around the final turn and raced as a team down the stretch until Eurobond worn down JL Cruise to win by one-quarter of a length in 1:55.1. Kenziesky Hanover was third.
EUROBOND REPLAY
It was the seventh win on the season for Eurobond. The eight-year-old stallion is trained by Per Engblom for the Morrison Racing Stables and paid $12.00 to win.
