Misstrepo gives her sire a timely boost

The bonny mare Misstrepo is proving a fine advertisement for the Art Major horse Restrepo, a grand pacer himself and a five-time Group harness racing winner who is standing this season at the Tipperary Equine stud, Young (NSW) of well known studmaster Luke Primmer.

Misstrepo came from midfield to swamp a strong field of mares at Albion Park last Saturday (October 21) and boosted her stake tally to almost $80,000 in the process. She has won 14 races to date.

She is one of 12 winners sired by Restrepo and they are out of 12 different broodmare sires. He has sired only 30 foals two-years-old and older and 17 – more than 50 percent – have raced.

Undoubtedly, Restrepo’s best progeny is Relentless Me, the winner of nine races to date and $150,690 including the Tasmanian Oaks and a heat of the Victoria Oaks (fourth in final) and a finalist in the Vicbred Super Series and Breeders Crown.

The SA Southern Cross 3YO Final winner Urbadboy, the good metropolitan winners Prickle Patch, Sidstrepo, Hes The Judge and Urgoodboy and this season’s juvenile winner Smokin Strepo are among other winners sired by Restrepo.

Restrepo boasts an excellent average of $31,261 per starter, more than 15 times his service fee of $2,200 including GST.

Breeders are eligible for a range of ‘Breed NSW’ incentives including $250 on a 42 day positive test, $1,000 on the 2023 HRNSW registration of a live foal and $500 for live foals by stallions domiciled in NSW.
