It’s Cup Day today, Kaikoura’s biggest harness racing day at the picturesque South Bay Racecourse overlooking the sea.

Mark Jones has five runners spread over the nine race card starting with debutant Bubble Me (Downbytheseaside) in Race Two.

The two year old filly qualified in April and has been back to the trials twice since winning her last one by a length and a quarter, however she still looks green.

Mark lines up two runners in Race Three – What The Bell (What The Hill) and Helloveamoment (Andover Hall) and both will enjoy the drop back in class.

What The Bell has solid form including a last start fifth in the G3 Hambletonian. Monday’s assignment looks easier.

Helloveamoment has won three races all from the stand. She ran a tidy second when resuming but hasn’t had too much luck since. At his last start he ran against the likes of Gold Bullion (Father Patrick) and Harold Smith (Andover Hall).

Four year old Tempo Warrior (A Rocknroll Dance) draws nicely (1) in Race Four. This will be his first race day start from a stand but he looked safe enough at the trials.

Deny Everything (A Rocknroll Dance) lines up in Race Six. The winner of six of his twenty starts has good short distance stats but will have to leave the gate from the inside of the second row.
