Leading trainers’ horses have positive tests

The two leading harness racing trainers in North America, Ron Burke and Ake Svanstedt, both had horses with positive test results as reported to the USTA from last week.

Burke’s horse Saulsbrook Genesis at Northfield Park was found to contain Altrenogest in a blood test. Burke was fined $500 for the infraction.

Svanstedt’s horse Baptism at The Meadows was found to have in its blood and urine samples collected (post-race) testing and found to contain Phenytoin. Svanstedt was fined $1,000.

Trainer Mitchell York’s horse, Rose Run Zeke was tested at The Meadows and blood samples drawn (post-race) were tested and found to contain Lamotrigine. He has been fined $1,500.

It is not known as of yet if any of the trainers have appealed these positive tests.
