Exciting youngster Miss Idaho (Ultimate Machete) will remain on the harness racing feature circuit following her success against the ‘boys’ at Globe Derby last night.

Miss Idaho

One of three fillies in the Golden Nursery, Miss Idaho proved too good for trainer-driver, Ryan Hryhorec to complete a clean sweep of the series..

Not long after the daughter of Ultimate Machete returned to scale, Hryhorec set his sights on Miss Idaho’s next target.

“There is the Ladyship Stake in a couple of weeks I will set her for now,” Hryhorec said. “Another couple of weeks after that she has the Southern Cross heats and hopefully on to the rest of that series.

“I said early on I had a reasonable opinion of her, but the way she won last night has made me think even higher of her.

“She’s only had four starts and has a lot to prove, but everything about her suggests she can go a fair way.”

Settled two-back in the running line from gate two as Lil Miss Crocker led from the pole, Miss Idaho was taken three-wide around the home turn before sprinting to a metre-and-a-half win from Bay Jim Major, which was gallant after racing in the ‘death seat’.

Star Man was six-and-a-half metres away third.

“She was travelling nicely all along, but it wasn’t till we turned for home I truly knew I had them covered,” Hryhorec said. “I thought if she got the right run she would be in the finish, but I was very pleased with her effort.”

Rating 1:58.3 over 1800 metres, the two-year-old took her record to three wins, a second and earnings of $22,640 for owner Frank Borg.
