Cousin Margie (McArdle – Save My Tootsie) and harness racing driver Lindsay Moen turned the tables on Fancy Hill (Racing Hill – Beautiful Hill) and driver Skip DeMull in capturing the $9,500 Open Pace for mares in 1:56.3 Friday night (Nov. 3) at Northville Downs.
When the wings of the Brownlee Gate Cam starting gate folded, Cousin Margie shot right to the lead and never looked back. Putting up fractions of :28.0, :57.0, 1:26.0 and stopping the timer at the finish in 1:56.3 winning by a three-length margin over Fancy Hill who charged home for second while Danikova got up for the show.

The victory was the 20th of Cousin Margie’s career who is trained by Joe Stevens for owner Jessica Stevens. She paid $11.80 to win.
Breeders Cup weekend kicked off with exciting action from Santa Anita. In addition to that and the exciting live racing action, Northville Downs welcomed former Michigan Senator Curtis Hertel, Jr who took to the microphone and announced the post parade for the night’s first race. He then took a ride in the starting gate Hummer for race two.
Driver/trainer David Lake had a hat trick on the night for owner David Beachy who completed a hat trick as well owning the winners in races one Rose Run Vincent, race eight Some More Prince and race nine Yjuliahos.
Racing at The Ville resumes Saturday (Nov 4) at 7 p.m. with a 9-race program on day two of the weekend’s featured Breeders Cup weekend.
