What a month for Aldebaran Park’s brilliant but ill-fated harness racing stallion Aldebaran Eagle USA!
The son of Muscle Hill USA from the mare Letsjustalkaboutme USA produced six individual winners during October and has vaulted to the top of this season’s Australian three-year-old trotting sires’ premiership.
Leading the vanguard for Aldebaran Eagle USA in October was the homebred and owned four-year-old Aldebaran Dexta (ex Aldebaran Deegan NZ), who made a clean sweep of the Lang Trot Series with heat wins at Geelong and Warragul and a front running win in the final at Geelong. He has now won nine of his 19 lifetime starts.
Of Aldebaran Eagle’s three-year-old brigade, the standout performers were the Aldebaran Park homebred trio Aldebaran Stiles (ex Sundonna), who won three races in a fortnight at Globe Derby Park, Avenel Eagle (ex Naked Majesty) and Lair Of The Eagle (ex Never Never Land, by Skyvalley NZ).
Other recent Aldebaran Eagle USA winners were the home bred pair, the two-year-old filly The Fiery Sunset (ex Aldebaran Sunset NZ) and the four-year-old mare Aldebaran Demi (ex Aldebaran Maori).
Aldebaran Park’s resident stallion Skyvalley NZ was represented by Aldebaran Sundown (ex Aldebaran Sunset NZ), who scored twice at Pinjarra (WA) and the three-year-old Aetos Dynamis and Skybreeze, who has won six of his 10 starts to date.
Skyvalley NZ was also represented by the Aldebaran Park Group 1 Redwood Classic placegetter Link In Bio, while he figures as the damsire of recent Shepparton winner Abbie.
Among other racing highlights for the month were the career-best 1:56.5 winning effort of Aldebaran Vera (Trixton USA – Kyvalley Aldebaran NZ) in the Matchmaker Mile in 1:56.5 on Redwood Day at Maryborough, Aldebaran Zeus continued his racing in America with a barnstorming second in 1:54.6 at Yonkers Raceway, New York, star Aldebaran Eagle USA filly Rockinwithattitude’s second in the Group 1 Victoria Trotters Oaks, new ‘$100,000 Club’ member Aldebaran Miley, who finished third in the Oaks and the maiden success of the homebred and owned two-year-old gelding Aldebaranstilinski (ex Aldebaran Sky) at Maryborough.
Aldebaran Park enjoyed another banner month in October, breeding 10 individual winners of 17 races.
Besides being the named rights sponsor of the three-day Redwood carnival at Maryborough, Aldebaran Park sponsored two of the major trotting classics on New Zealand’s South Island in the Dancinginthedark M Canterbury Park Trotting Cup at Addington and Dancinginthedark M Southern Trotting Oaks at Invercargill.
