Charlottetown, PE – Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park has announced details for a special harness racing card and sponsorship packages for Friday February 2nd.
Post time is 6pm. An Evening at Red Shores celebrating the O’Brien Awards features a live harness racing program, cooler presentations, dinner, displays, special guests on the Race Day broadcast and more. The evening will conclude with the return of the popular Island Kitchen Party at the EastLink Trade Center with local talent and Island themed food stations. There are two exciting sponsorship packages being offered from Red Shores which also include tickets to the O’Brien Awards on Saturday February 3rd, 2023.
The O’Brien Awards Black Tie Gala is Canadian harness racing’s most prestigious event. After two years of presenting online virtual galas, then hosting live in 2023 in Mississauga, Ontario, the Canadian harness racing industry is heading east to Prince Edward Island!
“Red Shores is excited to have the O’Brien Awards back on PEI,” said David MacKenzie, General Manager of Red Shores properties. “It’s been 10 years since the event has been here and we look forward to working with Standardbred Canada on staging this prestigious event. Our Friday night presentation will be a great way to get the weekend started.
The inaugural edition of the O’Brien Awards was presented in 1989. The Awards were named after the late Joe O’Brien as a permanent testimony to the unmatched skills of this legendary horseman. “Little Joe” was born in Alberton, P.E.I., on June 25, 1917, and was regarded as one of the premier all-around horsemen in the sport.
