CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The fastest lasses in East Coast harness racing return Saturday afternoon (Nov. 11) during a program with a special post time at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The city track has 14-dashes starting at a special post time of 2 P.M., pushed back in observance of Remembrance Day.
Race 13 of the day is the $3,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace with Acefortyfourdome (Up The Credit) selected to win from post 3. Jason Hughes trains and drives her for owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. The mare has won four of 29 starts this season while banking over $29,000.
Redlandbethanyjean (Artspeak) has rail control in the dash after a successful sophomore season with six wins and $39,573 earned from the Tom Weatherbie barn. Brodie MacPhee is listed to drive her.
Post 7 has D Gs Elsa from the red-hot Luke Burke stable. The 18-year-old trainer has put together a solid campaign in his rookie season including winning the Fillies and Mares Preferred class her last start for driver Ken Murphy.
Also in the field are Plain Jane (To be driven by Adam Merner) with post 2, Tobins Brownie (David Dowling) from post 4, Chelski (Corey MacPherson) holding down post 5, Atlantic Star (Kenny Arsenault) from post 6 and Dreamfair Zenfire (Marc Campbell) holding down the outside post 8.
The Post Time Picks like Acefortyfour Dome to win.
“Acefortyfour Dome was a front-end winner in the Atlantic Mares final three starts back. She’s coming off two covered trips so I think she rolls gate-to-wire today.”
Race 1 is the Remembrance Day Lest We Forget pace with Machbook Pro (MacPherson) the morning line favourite from post 5 for owner Mark Ramsay of Middle Sackville, N.S.
Fresh off a victory in his final year of racing, the veteran Painted Pony will attempt to sweep the Joe MacRae Memorial Fall Series Final, presented by MacRae Backhoe and Trucking, on the Sunday afternoon program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The stacked program has 16-dashes starting at 12:30 P.M. with Painted Pony leaving from post 5 in the race 11 MacRae Memorial Final for driver Marc Campbell and owner-trainer Raymond White. The 14-year-old won his $3,000 MacRae preliminary leg in 1:59.2 for his 47th lifetime victory and now takes aim at the $4,500 final on Sunday. A former $1,000 yearling purchase, Painted Pony is facing down mandatory retirement after Dec. 31 when he turns 15.
West Coast Kid is the morning line favourite in the dash with David Dowling driving for trainer Phil Kelly from post 3. Lock Her Up was also a winner in her preliminary leg and has post 2 for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault.
The Post Time Picks like Painted Pony in the win position.
“Painted Pony zipped off the wings last week and led at every call scoring in 1:59.2. He gets the same track, same post, same driver, and the same result in the Joe MacRae Memorial Fall Series Final.”
Race 15 is the $3,800 Preferred Pace. Fern Hill General is favoured in the event with post 2 for driver Arsenault, trainer Tom Weatherbie and owners Peter Smith of Stratford and Gerald Morrissey of Charlottetown. Also in the field are Phil Dorleans (To be driven by Jason Hughes), Mantario (Dowling), Rollwithhottytoddy (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Stash It Away (Ken Murphy) and Island Beach Boy (Brodie MacPhee).
